@DayaniCristal is a perfect current example of a film tackling important subject matter with creativity and style.

I've seen a number of documentaries on migrants traveling through Central America and Mexico en route to the US but this documentary allows the audience a much closer link because of Gael’s journey with other migrants on the same dangerous routes taken. You almost feel like you are there and get a slight glimpse into the challenges faced.

A beautiful tender film that gently reveals the complexity and humanity behind the much-sensationalised issue of global migration.

The film shows the complexity of human strivings motivated by hope, greed, compassion, duty, prejudice, camaraderie and power, strivings that sometimes dance together poignantly and other times collide with mortal force. The stories of the migrants who cross the border, whether happy or tragic, are points of light illuminating what we need to change.

It is breathtaking and unbelievable, not to mention exceedingly dangerous. Intimate and illuminating, the film is a tragic tale, giving very human faces to a growing international problem.

Essential viewing for everyone. This film is an opinion changer, not a policy changer, but one almost always follows the other. Get your tickets now.
